Oronoco, MN (KROC AM News) - Vandals caused extensive damage to a brand new house in Oronoco either late Monday or early Tuesday.

An Olmsted County deputy was sent to check a report of stolen construction tools and equipment Tuesday in the 1400 block of Riverwood Court SW where several homes were being built.

The deputy decided to check the homes and discovered vandalism-related damage in three of them. The worst was one the deputy entered to find “water running everywhere.” It was discovered two upper-level sinks had been plugged and the faucets had been turned on and left running. The water damaged floors, walls, insulation, light fixtures and more. The damage may be as high as $50,000 because the home was nearly finished. Sheriff’s Office Capt. Scott Behrns suspects the vandalism was caused by the same people who have been stealing from construction sites the last several weeks.

A similar incident was found at a Rochester home Tuesday morning. A person who was watching a neighbor’s home found a shower had been left running and pillows had been left in the tub but the water never got high enough to overflow. It was also discovered the intruder or intruders stole a computer and some other items. The home is located in the 1100 block of 7th Ave NE.
