Eden Prairie, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Minnesota Vikings are urging fans planning to attend Sunday’s NFC Wild Card Game to be prepared for the bitter cold that is forecast for game time.

The team will be distributing free hand warmers in the Fan Zone and at entry points to TCF Bank Stadium, and Caribou Coffee will provide free coffee in the Fan Zone just outside the stadium in an effort to assist fans as they brave the weather to cheer on the team. Nearby Mariucci Arena will also be open during the 3 hours before kickoff to serve as a warming house.

The Vikings also say fans are encouraged to bring Styrofoam, cardboard or newspapers to place under their feet in the stadium, which has proved to be an effective tool for keeping warm in other outdoor football markets.

Forecasters are predicting the temperatures will be in the single digits above zero or even colder when the game gets underway at 12 noon.

A limited number of tickets are still available for the game.
