Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man who was wanted on a warrant connected to a stabbing and robbery that was reported in July was apprehended Wednesday - after crashing into a home.

Officers spotted 29-year-old Edgar Barrientos driving a car near the Parkside Mobile Estates site near Marion Road around 11:30 a.m. An officer with his gun drawn stood in the street in an effort to stop Barrientos but he swerved around him and then crashed into a mobile home while trying to get away. He was taken into custody and is facing new charges after a loaded handgun and drugs were found in his vehicle.

The warrant was issued a few weeks ago after Barrientos failed to show up for a court hearing.

He was charged in July with aggravated robbery and felony assault after police say he stabbed a man. An 18-year-old from Houston, Minnesota was stabbed July 3rd while in the parking lot of the Extended Stay America Hotel on West Lake Drive Southeast.

Police say the victim and a friend fled on foot, leaving their vehicle behind. The vehicle was gone when they returned. The victim told police his phone and wallet were in the stolen vehicle. He was treated for a non-life threatening injury.

Police later arrested Barrientos and three others.
