Areas just south of Rochester could see 4-6 inches of snow this weekend.

The National Weather Service has posted a winter weather advisory for counties along the Iowa border in southern Minnesota, while most of Iowa is under a winter storm warning. In this region, the advisory covers Steele, Freeborn, Mower, Fillmore and Houston Counties through 9 PM Sunday.

In Minnesota, the heaviest snow is predict south of I-90, but the heaviest snow is predicted in northeast Iowa where the storm totals could approach 10 inches. Forecasters are predicting the bulk of the snow will fall before noon on Sunday.

At this point, the Rochester is being told to expect anywhere from 1 to 4 inches of accumulation.
