Why Did Will Ferrell Hit A Cheerleader With A Basketball?

Those in attendance at Wednesday night's NBA game between the Lakers and the Pelicans saw a slightly intoxicated Will Ferrell hit a cheerleader in the head with a basketball. Or at least that's what it looked like.

It turns out it was all part of a scene they were filming for a new movie called "Daddy's Home". Will plays the part of a man who is trying to be a good stepdad to his wife's kids, but has to deal with her ex-husband (played by Mark Wahlberg) who's re-entered the picture.

The audience was told how to react during the scene. And despite the fact that the cheerleader was obviously a stuntwoman, it was still shocking to see her get pegged at point blank range like that. His throw and her fall had to be perfect...and it was.
