Wild Win In Overtime 5-4

DENVER (AP) — Nino Niederreiter scored his second goal of the game 5:02 into overtime and Ilya Bryzgalov made a big save filling in for an injured Darcy Kuemper, leading the Minnesota Wild to a 5-4 win over the Colorado Avalanche in Game 7 on Wednesday night.

It’s the first playoff series win for the Wild since 2003.

Mikko Koivu, Dany Heatley and Jared Spurgeon also scored for the Wild, who will face the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks in the second round.

Nick Holden, Jamie McGinn, Paul Stastny and Erik Johnson scored for the Avalanche

Rangers and Kings advance

UNDATED (AP) — The New York Rangers have earned the right to take on the Pittsburgh Penguins in the NHL’s Eastern Conference semifinals.

The Rangers are 6-0 in Game 7s at Madison Square Garden after Daniel Carcillo and Benoit Pouliot scored in the second period of a 2-1 victory over Philadelphia. Henrik Lundqvist stopped 26 shots and blanked the Flyers until Jason Akeson scored with 15 ½ minutes left.

In last night’s other Game 7 — The L.A. Kings outscored San Jose 5-1 to advance to an all-Southern California second round. The Kings are the fourth team to come back from a 3-0 deficit to win a seven-game series. The Kings move on to play the Anaheim Ducks next.
