Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -.It will be very windy and warm across the region today.

It could be the warmest day in the Rochester area since late September.  But there is also concern about wildfires. The National Weather Service says open burning should be avoided due to ideal conditions for fast moving wildfires - low humidity, strong winds, warm temperatures and dead vegetation. Temperatures are expected to climb into the 70’s and wind gusts could hit 40 - 50 miles per hour.

A Red Flag Warning will be in effect for a large part of the region from 1 - 7 p.m.

The first round of thunderstorms of the year is expected later tonight.
