Preston, MN (KROC-AM News) - A western Wisconsin man has been sentenced to 3 months in jail for a criminal conviction stemming from a car crash in Fillmore County that claimed the life of his wife.

29-year-old Hunter Scott of Holmen has also been ordered to spend 30 days on electronic home detention each year, beginning on the anniversary of the deadly crash during the 5 years he is on probation.

Scott earlier entered a Norgaard plea to a criminal vehicular homicide charge, which basically means he admits his guilt but does not remember his actions. He was accused of driving drunk when he lost control of his car and crashed into the ditch along an icy rural road near Chatfield on December 20th, 2014, killing 27-year-old Laura Scott.

In addition to the time in jail, on home detention and probation, Scott is also being required to perform 300 hours of community work service.
