We all know that the residents of Wisconsin have quite a reputation for being big drinkers! On a recent tour of Target Field, the tour guide said that the average number of kegs drained during a Minnesota Twins game is 250, but that number skyrockets to 400 when the Milwaukee Brewers come to town.

Now, the website 24/7 Wall St. has released a poll of the 20 drunkest metro areas in America and it should come as no surprise to those of us who live close by that the top four drunkest cities were ALL in Wisconsin. Appleton took the top prize, as the drunkest city in America, with Oshkosh-Neenah, Green Bay and Madison taking the next three spots, respectively.

Add in LaCrosse at number six, Fond du Lac in seventh and Eau Claire at ninth, and Wisconsin accounts for seven of the top ten drunkest places in the country. In total, Wisconsin took 12 of the spots in the top 20.

To come up with their list, 24/7 Wall St. says it reviewed data on “the percentage of adults who report binge or heaving drinking across 381 metro areas.” The study also took the number of bars per capita into account, as well as the number of lives lost prematurely per 100,000 people and the percentage of driving deaths involving alcohol.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, the state of Utah claimed four of the top five spots on the list of the country’s “driest” metro areas…
