Kenosha, WI (KROC-AM News) - A former Milwaukee area police officer’s murder trial is scheduled to get underway Monday morning in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

54-year-old Steven Zelich is facing a first-degree murder charge for the death of a 19-year-old Oregon woman at a hotel in Kenosha in August 2012, but he also faces charges in Olmsted County where he is accused of murdering a Farmington, Minnesota woman at a hotel in Rochester in November 2013.

Late last year, the judge presiding over the Wisconsin case approved a prosecution request to allow the jury to hear evidence about the Rochester case involving the death of 37-year-old Laura Simonson. In both cases, Zelich claims the deaths were accidental and occurred during rough sex.

The bodies of both women were found in suitcases that had been left along a rural road near Milwaukee in June 2014.
