Just last month (May 23rd) I did a story about the world's oldest person, Jeralean Talley who had just turned 116. Sadly Jeralean died on Wednesday just a month after her historic birthday.

Jeralean had stayed active most of her life. She bowled regularly until she was 104 and still mowed her own lawn until a few years ago. She also enjoyed going on her family’s annual fishing trip. She was a big believer in the golden rule of treating people the way you want to be treated.

Jeralean was one of only three people born in the 1800s that was still alive. Now there are only two. With Talley's passing, Susannah Mushatt Jones is now the oldest person in the world.  She will turn 116 on July 6th.
