Zingers, Ding Dongs, and More Recalled by Hostess
This must be a record week for recalls! Now, Ding Dongs, Zingers, and otehr Hostess goodies are being recalled! Here's the sad sad list...
Hostess Brands is recalling 710,000 cases of snack cakes and donuts because Grain Craft flour recalled a bunch of their product because of "undeclared peanut residue."
What's gotta go? Some packages of Zingers, Ding Dongs, chocolate donuts, powder donuts, and crunch donuts. Plus others.
It's a long long list, check 'em out "best by" and UPC code info here.
Got any questions? Like, you're holding a delicious zinger right now and you have almost zero desire to comb thru that enormous list, but you want to be safe? Give 'em a call. No, seriously. Call 'em and ask: 1-800-686-2813.
The good news here is that while people that are allergic to peanuts need to use caution, apparently, the level of allergen is pretty low. Here's the poop from the Hostess folks themselves:
While those who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume products containing peanut allergens, the amount of peanut exposure from use of the flours and affected products is considered to be low and not expected to cause adverse health effects in the vast majority of peanut allergic consumers. To date, Hostess has received notice of two allergic reactions related to the product covered by this recall. Out of an abundance of caution, we are recalling the specific products listed on the attachment.
