Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester Public Works Department is advising motorists of a major project that will disrupt a busy north-south route in southeast Rochester, beginning today.

It is expected to take 6-8 weeks to complete the concrete pavement renovation and sanitary sewer repairs on 3rd avenue southeast between 4th street and 12th street.

The first phase of the project, which is scheduled to get underway Wednesday, will shut down the roadway from 9th street south to 12th street. Work on the section running from 4th street to 9th street is expected to begin in mid-June.

Traffic will be detoured onto South Broadway and bus routes will be affected.
