St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Minnesota Department of Health is now listing 9 presumptive cases of COVID-19 in the state.

Health officials today announced four new cases involving residents of Dakota, Stearns, and Hennepin Counties. All 4 patients are currently recovering at home in isolation. The Health Department also reported all four cases involved either international or domestic travel to places where the new viral illness is active. So far, Minnesota has yet to detect any community transmission of the coronavirus. A total of 316 people have been tested.

A spokesperson says Minnesota is still in the containment phase of its response to the coronavirus and is not recommending closing any schools. The official also added the health department is beginning to move into a new phase involving community migration will impact the personal lives of residents, even if they are healthy.

The first case of the new illness in the Rochester area was reported yesterday. Officials indicated it involved a local person in their 50s who apparently became infected during international travel. It was last reported the individual was recovering at home.
