It's not really just Rochester, but that's where we are, so the warning is for us. Why shouldn't we touch our faces after ordering? Because if you use a touch-screen kiosky thing to order you fast food, that screen is full of everyone's fingers.

I saw this in a story about McDonald's touch screens in the U.K., but I'm 99% certain the same thing is true over here and at every single brand of fast food with customers ordering from a touch screen.

McDonald's says they wash the screen many times a day (source), and I'm sure they do. I'm sure all the fast food restaurants do, but that doesn't excuse you from being smart and limiting what you touch until you can wash your hands after doing the touch-touch.

That especially includes your food. "But it has wrappers!" So what? Your mom used to make you wash your hands before dinner, and you were using forks...she knew what's up then and now.

Dr. Paul Matawele, who told the Metro: "We were all surprised how much gut and [fecal] bacteria there was on the touchscreen machines. These cause the kind of infections that people pick up in hospitals."

That's the stuff that's everywhere, and why washing hands regularly can keep you from getting so many different kids of sick.
