When you think of a rodeo, you think of cowboys, horses and bucking broncos, right? Well, that wasn't the case Wednesday and Thursday here in Rochester.

That's because it was a Forklift Rodeo that took place at Mayo Civic Center on Wednesday. It was all part of the 2017 Midwest Food Products Association's Annual Convention.

The MFPA is a trade group based in Madison, Wisconsin. According to its website, the annual convention is a way to "bring together leaders in the food processing industry to discuss trends, view new technologies, share expertise, and network with professionals in different companies and disciplines," the site explained.

And, according to this KTTC-TV story, the Forklift Rodeo event drew over 900 people to Mayo Civic Center to watch various forklift operators show off their skills. They took part in several different competitions, the story noted, everything from the forklift slalom, to lifting and stacking, and even a basketball challenge.

And, the story said Wednesday's big winner was forklift operator Jeff Papke, who works at Seneca Food's Glencoe location. He narrowly edged out Travis Haugstad of Seneca Foods here in Rochester, the story noted.

Well done, guys!
