Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Monday wasn’t the warmest Memorial Day in Rochester history but it came close - very close.  Like one degree close.

The official high temperature Monday at the Rochester airport was 95 degrees, which tied the record for the date (2006). It was only the fourth Memorial Day in the city with temps in the 90s. The warmest Memorial Day on record for Rochester was May 30, 1934, when the temperature maxed at 96 degrees. Temperatures are expected to climb back into the 90s in Rochester again Tuesday for a sixth straight day.

Here is a summary (not summery!) of this run of very warm weather:

Thursday, May 24:  90

Records:
Friday, May 25:       90 (89 -1980)
Saturday, May 26:   91 (91-1939)
Sunday, May 27:     93 (93-1914)
Monday, May 28:    95 (95- 2006)
Tuesday, May 29    ?? (95-2006)

The record-breaking heat wave had a major impact on a popular event over the holiday weekend. Organizers of Rochester’s Med City Marathon had to cancel the full distance marathon, 20 mile race, and marathon relay scheduled for Sunday because of the heat.
