Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - It wasn’t much but it was enough to set a record.

The rain that fell at the Rochester airport through midnight Tuesday totaled .92 of an inch, beating the previous record for the date, which was .84 set in 2012. About another inch fell through the overnight.

Rainfall totals throughout Olmsted County as of noon Wednesday ranged from 1.3 inches at St  Marys Hospital to more than 3 inches in the Eyota area.

It has been a wet fall in Rochester. Nearly a foot of rain has been fallen at the airport since September 1st.That’s more than half a foot above normal.  

It has also been a very wet year. The precipitation total at the airport so far this year is around 40 inches, which is nearly 11 inches above normal. It’s also nearly 5 inches more than the total from all of last year. It also appears 2016 will be among the top ten wettest years on record for Rochester.
