A Rare COVID-19 Death In Minnesota
St Paul (KROC AM News) - For only the second time since Minnesota began keeping track of COVID-19 statistics, a young child has been listed as a victim of the virus.
The Minnesota Dept. of Health Wednesday reported a child between 5 and 9-years-old died in Chippewa County.
That’s the only death in that age group out of nearly 13,000 positive cases.
The only other Covid-related death in Minnesota involving a person under the age of 20 was a 9-month-old who died in Clay County in July.
The number of positive cases involving Minnesotans under the age of 20 is nearly 80,000, or about 17-percent of the state's overall total.
The department reported a total of 11 Covid-related deaths Wednesday, raising the state’s overall total to 6,319.
