La Crosse, WI (KROC AM News) - After a cold and snowy start to the final weekend of 2018 in the Rochester area, warmer weather returns Sunday.

Highs temps Saturday were only in the teens and the area received about half an inch of fluffy snow.

Temps rose overnight and are expected to rebound into the low 30s Sunday. But colder air will return during the day Monday and the National Weather Service says a mix of light snow and freezing rain is likely from late morning until after midnight.

Much colder temperatures and wind chills are expected for the first day of 2019 and highs Tuesday will only be around 10 degrees. But warmer weather will return and produce temperatures in the low 30s by Thursday.

Meanwhile, another winter storm is expected to affect the North Shore Sunday night. Several inches of snow could fall in the Duluth area by Monday evening. The city received more than a foot from Thursday’s storm.
