Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - It looks like southeast Minnesota could be in for a good soaking this week.

The National Weather Service says there will be a chance of rain all the way into the weekend.

It appears heavy rain could affect the area Wednesday and Thursday, which is the first day of autumn.

The Weather Service says two rounds of heavy rain may affect southeast Minnesota, southwest Wisconsin and northeast Iowa.The first round could produce two inches of rain Tuesday night into Wednesday. The second round is expected to develop Wednesday and continue into Wednesday night or early Thursday. It could drop 1 - 3 inches of rain across the region. This could lead to flash flooding in some areas.

Strong storms could also develop as this system moves through.
