
MPCA Fines Dodge County Company for Air Permit Violations for 2nd Time in 4 Years
Claremont, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has fined a Dodge County company for air permit violations.

A news release announcing the fine says the penalty is a result of an investigation conducted by the state agency.
It’s the second time the business has been fined by the MPCA in the past four years.

MPCA Fines Al-Corn Clean Fuel, LLC in Claremont for Air Permit Violations
The MPCA says Al-Corn Clean Fuel, LLC in Claremont has paid $40,427 in fines for its violations.
The latest investigation determined the company exceeded its permitted limits of particulate matter in June and October of last year and in March of this year, according to an MPCA news release.
Prolonged exposure to particulate matter can cause aggravated asthma, breathing difficulty, irritation of the airways or difficulty breathing, and nonfatal heart attacks, the MPCA says.
Officials also allege that Al-Corn Clean Fuel, LLC had incorrect emissions records from July of 2022 through December of 2022.

Along with paying the fine, Al-Corn Clean Fuel, LLC also replaced emission equipment that failed performance testing, submitted a plan to ensure record keeping when corrective actions occur and submitted a permit amendment, the MPCA says.
In September of 2021, Al-Corn Clean Fuel paid a $199,000 fine for uncontrolled volatile organic compounds, particulate matter, and nitrogen oxide emissions in emissions that exceeded its permit by 35-75%.
A four-year investigation found the company exceeded their permitted emissions in 2018 and 2019, according to MPCA records.
