So just who IS the real Colonel Sanders in the new KFC ads? Earlier this summer, SNL alum Darrell Hammond wore the suit, but recently was replaced by former SNL colleague and current Last Comic Standing judge Norm MacDonald.

There's been a lot of speculation on the internet about what's really going on. Was Hammond fired? Rumors persist that many people were turned off by his portrayal of Sanders. Did the ad executives decide to just move on to MacDonald? (And isn't it ironic using someone with a name that sounds like another famous fast-food restaurant?)

Another thought is that this might be the start of a new campaign where KFC will continue to use former SNL stars to fill the Colonel's white suits. If that's the case, I can't wait to see Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, Billy Crystal, Jimmy Fallon or Eddie Murphy take on the role. Why stop there? Tina Fey does an amazing Sarah Palin impression, maybe she could surprise us all with her version of the Colonel. Now THAT would be finger lickin' good!
