Why the Start of Summer Feels More Magical in Minnesota Than Anywhere Else
Everyone in Minnesota seems a little bit happier once the unofficial start of summer shows up on the calendar. When Memorial Day hits, we can finally soak up some vitamin D after months of seeing gray and multiple cloudy days in a row.
Summer isn't just a season in the Land of 10,000 Lakes...it is a reward for surviving the winter season, which 73% of us hate. As soon as Mother Nature starts to tease us with fresh flowers popping up and 60-degree days, we know some of the best moments are about to happen.

What Season Is The Top Favorite For Minnesota Residents?
You know how women go through labor pains...sometimes...multiple hours worth?! For me, personally, my first kid tore my stomach apart for over 20 hours. Finally, after 2+ hours of pushing, I got some help getting my "tiny", 9 1/2 pound baby out of my body.
Yes. It was as brutal as it sounds.
Actually, it was worse because I hemorrhaged too. You've seen those medical drama shows where people are on top of the patient as the gurney is being wheeled down a hallway...I was one of those people. Thankfully, I only remember bits and pieces of that as I was heading towards an ER. It was one of the best and worst days ever.
But guess what, I did it again, two more times, with babies that were about the same size.
Women and labor are a bit like Minnesotans and winter. 73% of us can't stand that season, but we get all of the layers, find our best gloves, and bear down as that bitter windchill hits our faces as we head to work. And we do it over and over again.
We do it because we know that summer is just around the corner and soon, Lake Life will be a reality again.
While summer isn't technically our favorite season, I do believe we are the happiest once we finally have those first summer feelings and get some vitamin D on our faces.
Before we venture back into the frozen tundra of Minnesota, Mother Nature blesses us with a gorgeous bouquet of colors during fall, which is the season the majority of us love the most.
