Don't Fall For the Latest Scam Hitting Southeast Minnesota

Sylvia Rogers, a Realtor at Edina Realty in Rochester, Minnesota sent a note out to her clients letting them know that another scam has surfaced.  She has noticed quite a few of these real estate scams lately and because this one mentions Edina Realty Mortgage specifically, she did some research and stated "I've checked with all of Edina's companies and we know nothing about this".

What the Scam Looks Like - The letter that several individuals received indicated that an immediate response was requested, and a phone number was provided along with the following message:

This letter is to inform you that the property's home warranty (home address) secured by Edina Realty Mortgage, may be expiring or may have already expired.  Our records indicate that you HAVE NOT CONTACTED us yet to get your Home Warranty up to date.

Please Call IMMEDIATELY as this will be our FINAL ATTEMPT TO NOTIFY YOU (phone number).

Without a home warranty in place, you are at risk of being financially liable for any and all repairs.  However, you still may have time left to activate a Warranty on your home before it's too late.  No inspection will be required and final acceptance is subject to your ability to meet eligibility requirements.

Have You Noticed Other Scams ?

A few weeks ago, in my work e-mail, I was told that I need to go to court because I ran a red light.  I've actually received this e-mail a few different times now and the best was when we were in lockdown in Minnesota.  I didn't go anywhere for weeks and the e-mail said I ran a red light by our office at work.  I WISH I was out driving but I knew that I was binge-watching all of the Marvel movies with my family wondering if our stash of toilet paper was enough to last us through this pandemic.  (That answer was "No" btw.)
