Christmas Day Storm Affects Minnesota Flights
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The storm system that hit the Great Plains over the holiday weekend dumped heavy snow across parts of North Dakota.
Totals of 12 - 18 inches were reported in the Fargo/Moorhead area. Strong winds also affected motorists and airports. As of yesterday, thousands of homes and businesses were still without power. Authorities say I-94 across the entire state was closed yesterday, as were other major roads.
It was also very windy in Minnesota Sunday and Monday and that affected numerous flights at the Twin Cities airport.
Rochester received 6 tenths of an inch of rain Sunday, nearly a record. Wind gusts at the Rochester airport were clocked at 45 mph Sunday and 52 mph Monday.
The storm is long gone and it appears the rest of the week will be dry.
