Cold Temps Coming So Warming Center Opens Thursday and Friday!

Thursday and Friday the low is expected to be -1 degree below zero. Add wind and it'll be even colder. Rochester has a surprisingly large population of people without homes. So the Salvation Army Winter Warming Center will be open. They open whenever the temperature is expected to go below zero.

According to the Salvation Army's Rebeccas Snap, "Homeless community members will be welcome at our 20 NE First Avenue Community Center location from 7p.m.-7a.m., where we will have a light meal, shower and laundry facilities available, and cots for them to spend the night."

Over the 26 days they were open lasts year, they served about 35 people a night. That's helping a bunch of people and it takes a pile of volunteers. If you'd like to be one, contact Alex at 507-288-3663 to fill out a volunteer application.
