Costly Rochester Area Fire Destroys Up to $200K in Property
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office has released a damage estimate for a pole shed fire that occurred in rural northeast Rochester earlier this week.
Lt. Lee Rossman said the Tuesday morning fire in the 3400 block of Hermann Ct. Northeast destroyed between $150,000 and $200,000 in property. Lost in the fire was a skid-steer loader, Kubota tractor, large amount of tools and skid-steer loader attachments.
Firefighters initiated a water shuttle operation using tankers, including mutual aid tankers from Dover and Eyota fire departments. Crews remained on the scene until 11:00 a.m. attempting to extinguish hotspots.
Oronoco and Stewartville fire departments also assisted RFD crews. One Rochester firefighter was assessed by Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service for exhaustion symptoms.
The property owner told authorities they do not know how it started. The fire remains under investigation.
