Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Rochester City Council has approved the preliminary plan for another downtown area residential project.

Monday night’s vote came after the council heard from the developer and some neighbors.

The project has been named Riverwalk Downtown City Apartments. It would be constructed on the north side of East Center St. and east of the Zumbro River, near Mayo Field.

The preliminary plan calls for a 6-story building with 149 residential units,174 underground parking spaces and a small area for commercial use.

The developer will now finalize the plan and submit it for another vote by the council and Planning and Zoning Commission.
