Cows Need Less Cowbell

Everyone remembers the old SNL skit where Christopher Walken says he “needs more cowbell”.  But when it comes to actual cows, they need less cowbell.

A new Swiss study says that cow bells hung around the necks of cows may actually be harming the animals.  The noise the bells create is loud enough to damage the bovine’s hearing, which then affects their feeding habits.  The researchers suggest that farmers eliminate the cowbells and locate their herd using G-P-S technology instead.
