SWEET! Oldest Dairy Queen in Rochester, MN Is Reopening This Week

We are in the heat of the summer and beyond a jump in a pool, the best way to cool off on a steamy day is with ice cream! Sadly, one of the most iconic spots in Rochester, Minnesota, closed up last year...leaving all of us craving a vanilla cone with a swirl on top.

It's been up for debate, but one Dairy Queen in Rochester is taking the claim of being the oldest DQ in the entire state. The fate of its future was up in the air when the business was put on the market. Thankfully (for all of us!), the historic DQ now has new owners and I just found out when the ice cream is being served once again.

Opening Date Just Announced For Oldest Dairy Queen in Minnesota (Yep...the one in Rochester!)

There is a sweet spot at 538 N Broadway Avenue that had some good news recently. As we all got excited for summer to start on May 1st, 2025, a family in Rochester excitedly announced that they were the new owners of the oldest Dairy Queen in Minnesota!

I've been driving past this Dairy Queen every day since it closed and seeing the white boards over the windows just became the norm. On July 3rd, I was driving down Broadway and saw that the glass was uncovered along with a sign that said, "Opening Soon".

Deliveries have arrived. Training has started. Now...it is time for us to eat some ice cream because opening day was just announced for the oldest Dairy Queen in Minnesota.

Now, the full menu isn't quite available, but a DQ cone could be in your hand starting at 11:00 am on July 16th.
