Deadly Hit and Run and Other Weekend Crashes (UPDATED)
Belle Plaine, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Minnesota State is investigating a fatal hit-and-run just southwest of the Twin Cities.
The patrol is reporting a 29-year-old Belle Plaine man died after he was struck by a vehicle on Highway 169 in Belle Plaine early Sunday morning. The deadly incident was reported at 5:15 a.m. and the State Patrol says the victim, Derek Faith, was pronounced dead at the scene.
At this point, investigators are requesting the public’s help in identifying the hit-and-run vehicle and driver.

A multi-vehicle crash on I-35 near Faribault Saturday morning resulted in fatal injuries to an Eden Prairie man. The State Patrol says the 63-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was in a vehicle that was rear-ended by a pickup at highway speeds around 11:45 a.m. A 60-year-old Eden Prairie woman in the vehicle with the deceased was transported to a hospital in the Twin Cities with serious injuries.
The 40-year-old St. Paul man driving the pickup that slammed into the victim’s car told troopers he briefly looked down and when he looked up he found the traffic in front of him had stopped. The violent collision sent the vehicle that was rear ended into two other cars.
The State Patrol says a total of 10 people were involved, but there’s no information listed on whether the other 8 were injured.

A 24-year-old Austin was seriously injured in a head-on crash near Spring Valley Saturday morning. The Minnesota State Patrol says Alfred Kpaingpah was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital after a vehicle driven by a New Jersey man collided, head on, with another vehicle around 10 AM.
The preliminary State Patrol report does not state whether Kpaingpah was the driver of the car and the list his role in the crash is unknown.
The 19-year-old New Jersey man driving one of the vehicle was brought to St. Mary’s with non-life threatening injuries and the State Patrol report does not have any information about the 53-year-old New Jersey woman who was a passenger in his vehicle.
