Rice County Sheriff Troy Dunn issued a news release this morning concerning the discovery Sunday of a man in a field in Wheatland Township.  He has been identified as David Amundson, 44, of New Prague, Minnesota.  Amundson was found in a field near his vehicle at 30th Street West and Halstad Avenue in Wheatland Township.

The news release stated, "There are no signs of foul play."  I spoke with Rice County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Jesse Thomas this morning because the Sheriff was unavailable and he said the investigation is ongoing.  Rice County Deputies and assisting agencies were dispatched to the area on the report of a deceased individual at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted by Scott County Sheriff's Office, Elko-New Market Police Department, Lonsdale Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Elko-New Market Fire/Rescue and North Ambulance.
