Additional Information

Jazz is in the Garden at Gagnon Museum

Pianist Kevin Turlington will jazz up the Charles E. Gagnon Museum and Sculpture Garden in an outdoor mini-concert on Saturday, Aug. 28.

Turlington expects to play songs from some of the great names of jazz – such as Duke Ellington, Chick Corea, Bill Evans – and he might add an original composition for the occasion.

The musician’s appearance is the second performance in the Concerts in the Garden series. It begins at 4 p.m. on the outdoor patio at the museum in Rochester, where sculptor Charles E. Gagnon lived and worked. The concert will move indoors if weather interferes.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets can be purchased online at www.gagnonmuseum.org/events. They’ll also be available at the door.

Turlington, who is entering his senior year at Lourdes High School in Rochester, has been playing the piano for 13 years. He has performed as the accompanist for the school’s choir. He also plays the organ and other keyboard instruments, along with guitar and bass. The Aug. 28 concert will be Turlington’s debut as a soloist.

The museum is located at 2500 Fourth St. S.W. It has a driveway for bringing patrons to the door, and parking is available along nearby streets.
This fall, the concert series continues to feature local student musicians performing different types of music. Watch for an announcement about September’s event!
