
Hundreds of Pounds of Food Reported Stolen Following Break-in at Eyota Food Shelf
Eyota, MN (KROC-AM News)- Hundreds of pounds of food has been reported stolen following a break-in at an Olmsted County food shelf.

The Eyota Food Pantry and Thrift Shop announced the apparent burglary and theft on their Facebook page Monday afternoon.
They are now asking for the community's help to find the person or persons responsible. The nonprofit also says they have filed a report with law enforcement.

The post says someone broke into the food shelf sometime between 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 15 and 10 a.m. on Monday, June 16.
Officials say the meat freezer was emptied out and the shelves were cleared of of tuna, chicken, peanut butter, and white rice. The thief or thieves also stole cases of mustard, ketchup, and green beans, the Facebook post says.
In all the food shelf is estimating about 1,000 pounds of food was stolen during the reported break-in.
The post says the suspect or suspects likely used the front door of the building.
Anyone who may have seen someone entering the building during the hours of the apparent burglary and theft or knows someone who suddenly has a large quantity of food is asked to contact the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 507-328-6760.
The food shelf says volunteers will be available to take donations from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. Donations can also be made online.
The post says the shelf will have food available when it opens on Thursday.
