Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Rochester firefighters coped with a high humidity and heat late Wednesday afternoon they battled a garage fire.

The fire was reported shortly after 5 PM at 937 6th avenue southeast. Battalion Chief Eric Kerska says the fire crews were able to prevent fire damage to a neighboring garage located just 3 feet away, but could not enter the burning structure because the roof had been heavily damaged by the flames.

Temporary shoring materials were used to gain access in order to investigate the cause of the fire, which caused an estimated $30,000 damage to the detached garage.

No injuries were reported.
