The influenza virus remains active in Minnesota, but overall flu activity continued to decline last week.

The State Health Department says preliminary reports indicate there were only six flu-related hospitalizations last week, 10 probable outbreaks in schools, and six outbreaks and long-term care facilities. The number of hospitalizations has been dropping for six straight weeks, while the outbreaks in schools and nursing homes have been fairly steady the past several weeks following a big drop in early January.

Overall activity Minnesota remains categorized as regional for a third straight week.
