Roseville, MN (KROC-AM News) - A former St. Cloud man is certainly glad he made the trip home to visit his family over the Thanksgiving holiday. The Minnesota Lottery says Shawn Walcheski stopped at the lottery headquarters in Roseville Wednesday to collect on a Powerball ticket he purchased at a St. Cloud business back on November 26th.

Walcheski explained he returned to his home in Denver with the Powerball ticket and did not fully examine it until his sister contacted him on Facebook a couple days later and informed him a ticket worth $1 million had been sold by the business where he had purchased his ticket. That’s when he closely checked his ticket and realized 5 of the numbers matched the numbers from the November 26th drawing.

Prior to that, Walcheski recalled he had been careless with the ticket,“It was in and out of my pocket, on the floor, all over the place.”.

Walcheski surprised his family by flying home for Christmas and delivering some “extra-nice” gifts.
