What a beautiful day in the neighborhood of the Douglas Trail Sunday!  Some friends and I logged 17.02 miles in on our bikes on Father's Day.  When I woke up Sunday morning it was raining and windy.  I didn't think it would be a good day to go riding at all, but later in the day, the sun came out.  It was pretty windy so the four of us decided that we would just shoot for a short ride.  It turned out to be perfect for riding and the trees served as an awesome windbreak so we just kept going!  It was sure fun!

We, meaning the four of us, my friends Dana, Brian, Jeff, and myself began our trek in Douglas, the city for which the trail is named.  It was very soon into our journey that we encountered a tree that was down and covering the whole trail.  We all kind of wondered exactly what we were in store for, but soon we found that we could not have picked a better day to ride, and all of those trees provided shade and shelter from the windgusts. It was beautiful and just awesome!

The four of us were having so much fun on our bikes enjoying the beautiful scenery and the great outdoors that we decided to ride all the way up to Pine Island and back.  We stopped for a little break in P.I. and then headed back home.  We did not ride the entire trail, but we sure had fun doing the part that we did do.  As you can see, the scenery was terrific.  It's been years since I've rode on this trail.  It could not have been more beautiful despite the crappy start to the day. I could not have picked a bunch of better friends to ride with either!  I had a fabulous time.  I really enjoyed getting out and riding my bike, and the company also.  It was fun Dana, Brian & Jeff! I even got to peddle with my shiny new shoes.
