The Gateway Cafe, located at 118 Gold St North in Wykoff, says the restaurant caught fire overnight.
“The restaurant will not be operational for the foreseeable future. We are in shock,” the post says. A description of the damage is not available.
KROC News reached out to the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office for more information and has not immediately received a reply.
A Fillmore County Journal story on the restaurant published in Janurary says the restaurant has been a part of downtown Wykoff since the 1960’s.
It recently was taken over by new owners. Prior to that, the building was believed to have been used as a pool hall during the Prohibition era.
The building is part of the Wykoff Historic District, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in July of 1994.
