New GoFundMe For Christian Gary’s Family In Rochester After Heartbreaking Loss

This story has taken me all day to figure out how to write.  When tragic stories happen, headlines can seem very flippant and written with urgency.

I saw some of those headlines this week.

When you actually know the people who are impacted by the tragic news that you are reporting on...it is gut wrenching.  My heart has been broken all day for this family and the best thing I can do to help right now is let you know about this GoFundMe as they are navigating the horrible loss of their 16-year-old son and brother, Christian Gary.

The stories we all read the past few days started on Monday night, when a Missing Person Alert was sent out to the Rochester area regarding a 16-year-old.  Christian Gary left his home on Sunday night to go for a ride on his E-bike and never returned.

The heartbreaking announcement was shared on Wednesday by the Rochester Police Department Communications Coordinator that he was found, and sadly, passed away.

The past few years, I've had the pleasure of meeting a few members of Christians family.  In fact, some of the family members have been in the Y-105FM studio with me.  I've also had some great chats the past few months with Mandee, who is Christians mom.

I know that I saw a lot of "thoughts and prayers" offered for the family the last few days, which is definately helpful.  But if you are looking for an additional way to help this family as they walk through this tragedy, a GoFundMe was started to assist Mandee and her family.

No parent should ever have to experience the heartbreak of losing a child. Tragically and unexpectedly, Mandee lost her 16-year-old son, leaving her and her family devastated and facing unimaginable grief. Mandee is a devoted single mother of five children who has spent years working tirelessly to give her kids every opportunity possible. Whether it meant working long hours or even juggling three jobs at once, she always made sure her children had the love, support, and resources they needed to thrive in their community.

 

Now, instead of focusing solely on grieving and helping her children navigate this heartbreaking loss, Mandee is facing the overwhelming financial burden that comes with funeral expenses, missed work, household bills, and supporting her family during this difficult time. Anyone who knows Mandee knows her strength, kindness, and unconditional love for her children. She has always been the one helping others when they needed it most. Today, she needs her community to surround her with that same love and support.
