Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Southern rock legend Gregg Allman is believed to be in Rochester receiving medical care at the Mayo Clinic.

A statement on his official website indicates Allman has canceled his tour dates beginning with an appearance in Scranton Pennsylvania on August 12th due to serious health issues. The concert cancellations run all the way through October 16th, when he was scheduled to perform at a jazz festival in Florida.

The statement does not provide any specific information about his health issues, but says he is currently under his doctor’s care at the Mayo Clinic.

“I want to thank my fans and friends for supporting me while I rest up and focus on getting better and back on the road as soon as I can,” Allman says. “I’ve been working hard with my band, my pride and joy, to play our music for everyone. We’ll see y’all in October.”

The website says his first scheduled performance will be asked in Atlanta Georgia on October 29th.

Allman is best known for his performances with the Allman Brothers Band, which produced numerous hit records through the 1970s. He is a member of the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame and has won a number of Grammy awards during his career.
