Moorhead, MN (KROC AM News) - Police in Moorhead, Minnesota are looking for the person who left spray-painted hate messages at a mosque over the weekend.

Officers were called to the Moorhead Fargo Islamic Center Mosque around 5:30 am Sunday and found “hate messages directed towards the Islamic faith and their followers spray-painted on several areas of the building's exterior.”

The messages included “Death to Islam" and a Nazi swastika on the mosque. A window was also broken.

Moorhead police say video surveillance from the building captured images of a suspect wearing a camouflage jacket and dark ski mask.

The FBI is assisting in the investigation which the Moorhead PD says “is very active at this time.“

The Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MN) is calling on authorities to investigate the incident as a hate crime.
