Minneapolis, MN (KROC AM News) - Marcus Sherels will get to play at the Vikings’ new stadium after all.

The Rochester native who signed with Minnesota in 2010 was talking with the New York Jets this week but according to ESPN and other media reports, he has worked out a new two year contract with the Vikings. No word yet on the terms of the deal.

A friend of Sherels says he had also heard from other NFL teams, including Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay, Carolina and Denver.

Sherels has primarily been a special teams player with Minnesota, serving as a punt returner. His punt return for a touchdown against Chicago November 1st earned him the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honor.

Sherels was in Rochester in February for the Polar Plunge and was one of the jumpers.
