Honestly some of the greatest times I have had in my life have happened as a result of some random spontaneous decision to just go on an adventure at the last minute.  That is precisely what I did yesterday. I went to see the Monkees play at the Zoo: Michael, Micky and Peter.  I didn't have tickets to see them play or anything but a random phone call to my mom led to a last minute drive up to catch this show and I am so glad I went!

Sure, it was a Monday night, and no, I did not have tickets, or even a plan to attend this show until about lunchtime yesterday, but what the hey.  A friend of mine mentioned it earlier in the day and I couldn't resist the urge to splurge on a little mommy & me time.  I bee-lined it out of Rochester shortly after 4 p.m. for the 7:30 show and had plenty of time to park and obtain last minute tickets.  I had no idea it was going to be as awesome as it was!  Fantastic show indeed it was. Somehow the tickets I managed to get sat us right in the center of the stage just a couple rows back.  It was an outdoor show and I am still shocked we didn't get rained on.  I have always been an avid concert-goer but this show really blew me away.   The three original members proved that age is just a number with all of their energy and amazing stamina.   I swear the show was almost 2 hours of intensity.   There was banjo, a timpani drum, several interesting dances and skits, and incredible video of some of their television footage from years ago synched up with the music they were playing.  It was surreal to see the images on the screen of the Monkees way back in the day as young goofballs and to watch them dance in front of themselves several years later.

The show was fantastic. What a great idea it was to trek up to the cities for a little fun.  The best part was looking over to see my mom singing and dancing too!
