Home Construction in Rochester Slowed in November

Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - New home construction in Rochester slowed last month with fewer than two-dozen building permits issued for new single-family homes.

The total of 23 was 3 below the tally from November of last year and was 26 under the count from October. Since the beginning of the year, the Rochester Building Safety Department has approved 322 single-family home permits, and the drop in activity in November makes it highly unlikely the city will top last year’s total of 369.

Overall, the city issued 155 building permits valued at $16.5 million dollars last month. That pushed the valuation total for the year above $462 million dollars, which is the highest that figure has been since 2005.

The largest building permit issued last month was for a new West Bank office along West Circle Drive that was valued at $4.6 million dollars.
