Props to Hy-Vee for helping people in need this year. The grocery chain donated 80,000 meals the week of Thanksgiving and has just teamed up with food manufacturers and suppliers from around the country to donate more than 1-million pounds of food to 17 food banks across the midwest. This generous act will help so many families that are struggling to put food on their tables including 1 out of every 8 Minnesotans.

A Hy-Vee press release says, "In addition to its continued support of food banks, Hy-Vee held several initiatives this past year to provide food and much needed support throughout its eight-state region. These initiatives included produce giveaways, meat distributions, fundraisers and meal giveaways that totaled more than $3 million

Channel One Food Bank in Rochester was one of the food banks to receive a donation from Hy-Vee. 80,000 pounds of food was given to Channel One which says demand has been higher than normal during the COVID-19 pandemic. The food bank, which serves 14 counties in our region, is currently struggling to keep up with demand. They are in desperate need of volunteers to help at its Rochester facility. Click here, if you need help with food, if you want to make a donation, or if you want to volunteer.
