Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - This is it. Barring some unknown emergency of some sort, Rochester Mayor Ardell Brede will collect the few personal items left in his City Hall office Friday and walk out the final time as one of the city’s elected leaders.

Brede’s term officially ends Dec 31st but the city is observing a holiday Monday and City Hall will be closed.

Brede was alone Friday as his longtime assistant - his ONLY mayoral assistant - was taking her final day of vacation. Donna Bussell’s final day was Thursday.

Brede has been busy the past few weeks clearing out the dozens of mementos, paintings, photos and other items that came his way during his 16 years in office.

The office now boasts of new paint and carpet and is ready for Mayor-elect Kim Norton, who will be sworn in Jan. 7th.
