Lakeville Man Sentenced in Feeding Our Future Fraud Scheme
Minneapolis, MN (MinnesotaNow) - A Lakeville man has been sentenced to more than six years in prison for his involvement in the massive Feeding Our Future fraud scheme.\
Witness tampering adds to prison sentence
The U.S. Attorney's Office for Minnesota says 34-year-old Abdirahman Mahamed Abshir's 78-month prison sentence also reflects his attempt to tamper with a witness during the trial in February 2025. He was charged with obstruction of justice for approaching the witness prior to the person's scheduled testimony.

23rd defendant sentenced in massive fraud case
Abshir is the 23rd person to be sentenced for convictions stemming from the Feeding Our Future fraud investigation.
“The sentence imposed on Abdirahman Abshir reflects accountability not only for his role in a massive fraud scheme, but also for his deliberate attempt to undermine the integrity of the judicial process,” said FBI Minneapolis Field Office Special Agent in Charge Christopher D. Dotson. “Witness tampering is an attack on the foundation of our justice system because it seeks to obstruct the truth and interfere with the fair administration of justice. Today’s sentence makes clear that such conduct carries serious consequences. The FBI and our law enforcement partners remain committed to protecting witnesses, safeguarding the integrity of our courts, and ensuring that those who commit fraud are held fully accountable.”

Mankato meal site claimed to have served thousands of meals
Court documents say Abshir and his co-conspirators were accused of fraudulently collecting more than $5.4 million from the federal child nutrition program during the pandemic. The allegations stem from claims that the Mankato meal site operated by Abshir served approximately 3,000 meals per day to children at a Mankato restaurant.
