It looks like we have another scam to be aware of. This one has been reported in Wisconsin and unlike most scams these days, this one happens by mail, making it pretty easy to fall for.

Beware Of New Priority Mail Scam Circulating In Wisconsin

This is not good. The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection is warning locals about a new lottery scam that starts with Priority Mail. The scam promises a million dollar prize. In a time when things are tight for many, it's easy to let your guard down.

So how does it work? One local received a package, accompanied by a letter appearing on what looked like legitimate letterhead from a real lottery organization. That alone already sets this scam apart from the rest.

The letter says that the recipient is the winner of a million dollars given to selected residents as part of a 'charitable initiative' but doesn't go into detail. Of course, in order to collect the promised funds, you have to give the scammer some personal information.

Thankfully, the person who reported this scam recognized the signs and reported it. A good rule of thumb when it comes to scams is this: if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
